Snowrunning.com With Second Win of Season.
With the first race of the season out of the way, and record snows in Whistler for January, team Snowrunning.com was ready to see what race 2 of the Yeti Snowshoe Race Series would bring. With 5 out of 8 runners toeing the line everyone’s time would count for this test.
The course was a 5km loop on mostly single track around Lost Lake in Whistler, British Columbia. Race Director, Marc Campbell put together a much different course than Mt. Washington and it sure was a runner’s course. The hard packed and fast route with rolling terrain challenged everyone.
Team Snowrunning.com went off the front, mixing it up with team Yeti. Regular winner, Andrew Clarke took the early lead ahead of Yeti racer Ryan Ervin while Justin Mark battled to hold 3rd in front of a fast chase pack.
Team Snowrunning.com’s Carey Sather remained unchallenged by the rest of the field. As the only women taking to the line from Snowrunning.com for this race, Carey had to be sharp. And that she was, leading the rest of the women’s field by almost 2 minutes.
On the men’s side, Andrew Clarke held strong for 1st overall, while Justin Mark kept his 3rd place secure. Dom Repta and Dave Cressman raced in to round out the top 10 and contributing to the Snowrunning.com team victory. The margin was 1:20 over the fast racing Team Yeti.
The next race of the series is Mt. Seymour and is sure to be another close race!
Team Snowrunning.com would like to thank Buff, Rudy Project and Atlas Snowshoes for their support.
